BIOGRAPHY
As Managing Director Europe, has overall responsibility for origination, operations and asset management in Europe.
Prior to joining SuncoCapital, Luis was Managing Director – Head of Energy & Infrastructure, Investment Banking at JB Capital Markets S.V. andmember of the Board at Vortex Bladeless (on behalf of JB Capital Markets). From 2007 to 2015, he was Executive Director – Asset & Capital Structuring in Europe at Banco Santander. Until then, he worked as Senior Structurer and Trader – (London, Paris and Madrid) atEndesa(currently Enel), where most of his professional positions were related to energy trading & structuring.
He holds a Degree in Industrial Engineering (Major in Electrical Power Systems) and postgraduate courses on Regulation and Economics of the Electrical Business from the Universidad Pontificiade Comillasin Madrd(Spain). Additionally, Luis owns an Executive Master in Financial Risk Management from the Instituto MEFF – Financial Risk Manager® 2005 Certification by GARPand an Executive MBA from the IE Business School in Madrid.
ACHIEVEMENTS
•+20 years of experience in the energy sector.
•JB Capital Markets: closing and asset management of a transaction with a total investment c.€40 million (95% of fund raised externally).
•Closing 15 renewable transactions in Spain, Italy and France representing a total investment of €1.1 Bn. (c. 500 MW).
•Divestment of c. €750 M representing a portfolio of c.350 MW sold to several institutional investors.
•More than 3 TWh/year closed on structured derivative products for Continental Europe at EndesaTrading.
•First ever structured derivative closed in Spain to hedge the long-term carbon emission’s exposure (c.2.5 Mn tons – EUAs during 2008-2012).
•Creation of a weekly planning market-based tool for the generation thermal portfolio of Endesain France (c. 2,000 MW of 6 coal power plants).
•Professor of the Master in Finance in the Energy Sector – Enerclub& CIFF during 2006-10.
•Invited professor of the Ecole PolytechniqueFédéralede Lausanne EPFL during 2002-06.
